As anticipation builds for the 2025 Ram Heavy-Duty truck lineup here at Landmark Dodge of Morrow, Stellantis is keeping the finer details largely under wraps. Just as trick-or-treaters will soon be pleasantly surprised by the “best picks of the block” for candy, there have been a few digital clues this past week as well. Stellantis has now released a few captivating images of the updated heavy-duty pickups, giving us a glimpse of what’s to come.
In a statement on their media site, Ram noted, “As we approach the reveal of our 2025 Ram Heavy Duty, the engineering teams are conducting final testing on one of the most important performance attributes of our heavy haulers: cooling.” They emphasized that, with these trucks set to hit the road with their camouflage removed, they wanted to share quality images rather than rely on poorly lit snapshots taken from moving vehicles.
Among the images shared is a composite featuring three distinct trucks. On the left, we see a striking blue truck, devoid of chrome accents and equipped with aggressive off-road tires—this is the 2025 RAM Rebel 2500 Heavy-Duty model. In the center is a white truck, likely a 2025 RAM Chassis Cab designed for heavier-duty tasks, available in configurations of 3500, 4500, or 5500. Finally, on the right, a red truck fitted with all-season tires appears to represent a higher trim level, potentially a Laramie or Limited, suggested by its brightwork and tire selection.
The design elements of the 2500 models are noteworthy, sharing features like sleek quad LED headlights with integrated blinkers, towing mirrors, and distinctive bumpers. However, each trim boasts unique front fascia designs, hoods, and lower air dams, tailored for their specific capabilities. In contrast, the heavier-duty 3500, 4500, and 5500 models cater to commercial users, featuring simpler halogen headlights and a more practical design approach, including a one-piece hood and less aggressive lower air dams.
One intriguing detail from the images is the large rectangular section in the center of each truck’s grille. This area likely conceals an adaptive cruise control radar array. There’s considerable speculation that Ram may introduce a more advanced hands-free driver assistance system in its heavy-duty trucks, akin to the technology offered in the light-duty 2025 Ram 1500 lineup.
Such a development would represent a significant technological leap for the heavy-duty segment, potentially outpacing competitors like GM and Ford, who have yet to incorporate similar systems in their heavy-duty offerings. While Ram has been tight-lipped about the powertrains for the new models, some changes are expected.
The Hemi V8 engine has been phased out of the Ram 1500 lineup, replaced by a gasoline-powered 3.0-liter inline-6 “Hurricane” engine that produces 420 hp and 469 lb-ft of torque, with high-output variants pushing that figure to 540 hp. Given the loyalty heavy-duty truck owners typically have for V8 engines, Ram will likely retain the robust naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V8 as the entry-level option.
Additionally, the Cummins diesel 6.7-liter inline-six is anticipated to remain a choice, with rumors suggesting possible increases in displacement and power. The high-output version may finally be available to 2500 buyers, rather than exclusive to the 3500 and larger models.
When can we expect a full unveiling of these new trucks? Ram has indicated that “the formal reveal of the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty will take place at a later date. At that time, we will provide more details on design, powertrain, and technology.” For now, truck enthusiasts and potential buyers will have to remain patient as more information is coming soon on the horizon.
