The Chrysler Pacifica is a spacious, efficient, and solid anchor of productivity and practicality here at Landmark Dodge of Morrow! It is currently the only minivan on the market offering both a gas engine and PHEV powertrain. Bucking national trends that see drivers gravitating directly towards the crossover EV segment, the Pacifica begins its family hauling duties with a 287 horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine. This powertrain is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, with the gas model bearing an EPA rating of 19/28/22 mpg city/highway/combined.
The plug-in Pacifica Hybrid draws on a combo of the same 3.6-liter V6 with a capable pair of electric motors, and a continuously variable transmission. The hybrid system is available with FWD only and cranks out a total of 260 hp. It can provide 32 miles of electric-only driving, which is ideal for the daily commuter who has grown weary of frequent trips to the pump. Many busy families have tax time on their mind this time of year, and the hybrid offers the benefit of being one of the relatively few vehicles that still thankfully qualify for the maximum $7500 tax credit, even after this year’s modified requirements.
Drivers who are looking for the ultimate family vehicle have become accustomed to depending on a good amount of standard safety and driver-assist equipment. What used to be “perpetually shiny new things” in the upgrade department now is included with models here at Landmark to assure families they will reach their destination safe, sound, and confident. The Pacifica line includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure steering assist, blind-spot monitors, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The Touring model rides on very cool 17-inch wheels, and adds LED front lighting, power-sliding side doors, a power rear liftgate, and keyless entry and starting. The mile markers will pass conveniently and comfortably thanks to three-zone automatic climate control, heated steering wheel and front seats, power driver’s seat, ambient lighting, and cloth upholstery. Chrysler’s fold-flat Stow n’ Go second-row seats are an excellent means of creating more space for the extra outdoor gear, or additives that make the kids’ sports teams excel on the go.
The Touring L trim adds luxurious synthetic leather seating, while the hybrid-only Select trim level provides the addition of standard second-row captain’s chairs. We’d have to wholeheartedly recommend the Limited for the longer trips on your family itinerary, as it adds 18-inch wheels and features a panoramic moonroof. Inside, there are the upscale touches of Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a power-folding 3rd row, very useful navigation and a properly boomin’ 13 speaker Alpine sound system.
The Pinnacle trim adds stunning 20-inch wheels for the gas-powered option and keeps the 18-inch wheels in the PHEV to maintain efficiency. The Pinnacle includes hands-free power side doors and a liftgate. The comfort factor inches up nicely with quilted leather as well. Any spur-of-the-moment messes are easily cleaned up with an integrated vacuum cleaner. There is also a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, along with seat-back touch screens that come with wireless headphones. Blu-ray and DVD players are up for grabs to ease long-journey boredom in the gas-powered model, and a 360° camera system comes standard on the Pinnacle while an additional option on the Touring L and above.
