Drivers who love navigating over tree roots and boulders were not always focused on luxury, but times have changed here at Landmark Dodge of Morrow! The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is a good example of Jeep’s vision to transform things wholeheartedly to upper-end status, and it still holds on tightly to the go-anywhere capability Jeep is known for. The high-end Summit and Overland trims are incredibly impressive, with a comfortable ride and an excellent assortment of features.
The standard powertrain is a downright dashing and capable V6, with the more powerful 357-horsepower V8 as an option. The V8 enables the towing capacity to reside at a robust 7,200 pounds, and the two-row Grand Cherokee offers up a still quite awesome experience at a somewhat lower cost. This year’s model remains relatively unchanged, due to drivers telling us here at Landmark that the 2023 Grand Cherokee brought “all the good stuff and more” eagerly to the table.
The Limited trim provides an excellent array of features such as remote start, automatic high-beam headlamps, interior ambient lighting, leather upholstery, and very convenient driver memory settings. The Car and Driver team cranked out a blog post last week describing in detail their appreciation for the Grand Cherokee L after a few spirited test drives. The handling was consistently smooth and agile, while the steering provided a perfectly weighted performance. During official runs of the test track, the V8 nailed down 0-60 mph sprints of 6.2 seconds.
The Grand Cherokee L can be equipped with one of three dirt and mud-commandeering all-wheel drive systems, along with an optional air suspension that can provide additional clearance for challenging terrain. The Overland and Summit trims provide a richly enhanced environment with the visually pleasing open-pore wood trim, and the very comfortable massaging front seats. There’s a 10.1-inch touchscreen right on top of the dashboard, with goodies to properly enjoy trail life such as the multi-faceted and entertaining options from Sirius XM radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
The larger models offer a 10.3-inch display, and there's also the option to add another pair of 10.1-inch screens to the back seats. Emulating what airlines have done to make passengers feel a bit more at ease and pampered, these screens can bring those on board more forms of entertainment. The U.S. News and World Report team told readers that this year’s Grand Cherokee L was, “A luxurious, family-focused SUV with plenty of available tech features and abundant off-road ability.”
Their testing proved the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L to be solid both off and on pavement, with a smooth and stable quality even on canyon roads. The absence of road and wind noise resulted in a pleasantly and productively hushed cabin. The premium material inside, very comfortable seats, and easy-to-use infotainment system were the traits that stood out most for U.S. News to deem the Grand Cherokee L an outright winner. This model’s comfort, class-leading towing ability, and well-tuned driving aids saw the Edmunds.com team hailing it for its wide appeal and polished chops preserving its legacy.
