Unsurprisingly, the truck-lovin’ public went crazy over the Jeep Gladiator here at Landmark Dodge of Morrow! Jeep finally has made the official announcement that they are planning on launching the electric Gladiator everyone has been waiting for. We have high hopes of beating out rivals such as Rivian’s R1S and R1T, along with the odd and eccentric Tesla Cybertruck. Last month we marked the first all-electric vehicle in the US, with the Wagoneer S being prepped and ready to take on the challenges of the trail.
The Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition will arrive at US dealerships this fall. It’s necessary to take drastic measures when battling with the competition! We are confident that the Wagoneer’s unique charm and capability will shine through. A Wrangler-inspired Recon SUV will storm the scene with removable windows and doors. Spy photos have depicted a squared-off and very cheerful exterior. Dual motors seem like a near-guarantee as do independent suspension and a unibody chassis.
The platform for the Recon supports between 85 and 118 kWh of battery capacity. Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa officially announced that the first full year for Recon would be 2025. According to recent UAW agreements, Jeep also plans to launch an electric Grand Cherokee, Gladiator, and Wrangler. The Gladiator and Wrangler EVs will likely retain much of the design from their gas-powered siblings. The new Wagoneer S is heavily influenced by the ICE Wagoneer but still boasts modern upgrades to reside in the EV category.
Some more sweet features are an illuminated seven-slot closed grille and futuristic slim LED lights. The Gladiator and Wrangler EV models are predicted to ride on the STLA Frame platform shared with the industrious 2025 Ram 1500 REV. This is currently the largest Stellantis EV platform and offers a 300 to 500 mile range. With models such as the Rivian R1T and Ford F-150 Lightning out there, this primo pair of new vehicles is bound to resonate with drivers prone to extreme exploration here at Landmark.
The affordable EV market holds massive promise, as 1.28 million units will be sold in the U.S. by the end of 2024. Plans for an electric Renegade are also in the works, further solidifying the blueprint for a sustainable and exciting future. The Motor Trend crew deemed the current Jeep Gladiator model a “compelling, sturdy off-road rugged machine.” They were able to spend some quality time with the refreshed Jeep truck in Moab and got a taste of its capability and personality.
Its single remaining engine option is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which cranks out 285 horsepower. The 2024 Jeep Gladiator comes with a winch-capable steel front bumper and an antenna that now resides directly within the windshield frame. There’s even a second Trail-Rated badge slapped on the passenger side where the old-school antenna once resided. The Mojave or Rubicon trim bumps the seating experience up to the coveted ultra-modern grade.
The electronics in the seats are even equipped to take on fording through just over 31 inches of water minus the doors! Jeep now offers the Trails Offroad partnership which loads all of the pertinent details directly into the Uconnect 5 system. Any Jeepers who are craving a capable Gladiator minus the Mojave or Rubicon can snatch up the Willy’s variant, which can now be ordered with Off-Road + mode.
