Built to Rise: Ram’s TRX and 5.7L HEMI Soar Into 2026 With Muscle Intact

According to a recent internal communication making the rounds online, Ram is preparing to restart production of the legendary 5.7-liter V8 for the Ram 1500 lineup as early as July 2025. But that’s not all—word is that the fire-breathing TRX, powered by a supercharged V8, is also making its comeback early next year here at Landmark Dodge of Morrow.

Built for the Long Haul: Ram Blends Iconic V8 Power with Next-Gen Innovation

The signs have been building for months. In April, reports surfaced that HEMI production resumed at the Saltillo engine plant. By May, pilot builds of HEMI-powered trucks had already begun rolling out of the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. That’s a clear indication that Ram isn’t just dipping a toe in the water—this is a full-on return to form.

Alongside the return of the 5.7-liter HEMI with its eTorque mild-hybrid system, the Sterling Heights facility is also gearing up for production of the innovative Ramcharger. While initially introduced as a 2025 model, the Ramcharger's full-scale launch has been moved to late 2025, with plans for it to hit the road as a 2026 model year truck.

Meanwhile, Ram has hit the pause button on the long-range battery variant of the all-electric REV. Demand forecasts shifted, and that prompted a strategic delay. If reports are accurate, we might not see the production version of the REV until sometime in 2027, which could make it a 2028 model.

More Than Muscle: Ram’s HEMI Strategy Sets the Stage for a TRX Return

That said, Ram has been teasing a big announcement for June 8, and while the details remain under wraps, it likely won’t be the TRX reveal we’ve all been waiting for. Still, the reintroduction of the naturally aspirated HEMI V8 is big news in its own right—especially as it puts Ram’s half-ton lineup in a stronger position against rivals like Ford and GM.

Ford’s F-150 still offers a 5.0-liter Coyote and the monstrous Predator V8 in its Raptor R, now rated at a staggering 720 horsepower. GM, on the other hand, continues to offer 5.3- and 6.2-liter V8s in its Silverado and Sierra models. In that light, Ram’s decision to bring back the 5.7-liter HEMI and prepare the stage for a next-generation TRX is more than just a revival—it’s a strategic flex.

Fuel May Burn Fast—But TRX Passion Burns Hotter

If history is any indicator, Ram doesn’t like to be outgunned. The TRX was already a beast with 702 horsepower, but with the competition heating up, we wouldn’t be surprised if Ram dials things up even further in the next iteration. And while no one’s buying a TRX for its fuel mileage, we know full well that enthusiasts crave that unmistakable blend of sound, speed, and raw power.

That kind of power isn’t just about bragging rights—it’s a statement. The TRX didn’t just raise the bar when it launched; it obliterated it. And now, with both Ford and GM turning up the heat, Ram has every reason to respond with something even more ferocious.

Whether it's through an upgraded Hellcat motor or a Jailbreak-inspired performance package, we fully expect the next TRX to be more than just a comeback—it’ll be a thunderous return to dominance.

Ram’s Power Play: Gas Muscle Isn’t Going Anywhere

But Ram’s strategy isn’t only about muscle. By bringing back the 5.7-liter HEMI with the eTorque system, the brand is offering everyday truck buyers a tried-and-true option that blends strength with smart efficiency. It gives Ram a broader playbook, covering both the hard-working, gas-powered core and the high-octane edge that TRX fans live for.

The message is loud and clear: Ram isn’t interested in quiet transitions or safe moves. While the market shifts toward electrification, Ram is doubling down on what makes its trucks legendary. Whether you're after a reliable HEMI-powered workhorse or holding out for the next adrenaline-packed TRX, one thing’s certain—Ram is ready to deliver.

At the end of the day, this move signals one thing loud and clear: Ram is committed to keeping real truck performance alive. And here at Landmark, we can’t wait to welcome the HEMI—and the TRX—back home.
