The Silent Hauler: Ram HD Delivers Strength Without the Strain

Here at Landmark Dodge of Morrow, we know hard work demands a reliable partner—and Ram Heavy Duty trucks have proven that partner can last ten or more years. The current fifth-generation lineup, introduced in 2019 and known as the “DT” chassis, has been a mainstay on our lot, outlasting many light-duty cousins like the all-new “DS” platform rolling out in 2025.

Now, halfway through its lifecycle, Ram’s heavy-hitters are getting more than just fresh looks. The 2025 update nails everything we’ve been asking for: an advanced 8-speed automatic, a significantly upgraded Cummins diesel, sharper styling, and cutting-edge tech upgrades. To experience it firsthand, we took a 2025 Ram 2500 Laramie out across Georgia—here’s what stood out.

Not an all-new truck, but a meaningful refresh

Don’t believe the rumors—the Heavy Duty isn’t starting from scratch, but it’s undergone a powerful facelift. The front end gains an aggressive grille and LED headlights while new wheel options give each model a custom touch. Inside, Ram offers a massive 14.5-inch touchscreen, a 12-inch digital cluster, and a first-in-class 10.25-inch passenger display.

One diesel engine to rule them all

Ram simplifies the lineup by offering a single upgraded 6.7-liter inline-six Cummins across both 2500 and 3500 trims, with the HEMI V‑8 remaining the standard gas option. Thanks to a shift back to a quieter gray iron block, repositioned injectors for easier maintenance, glow plugs replacing grid heaters, higher fuel pressure, and a refined turbocharger, this diesel packs 430 horsepower and a class-leading 1,075 lb-ft of torque. The power is delivered smoothly and quietly, a big leap from the old “dump truck” vibe.

PowerLine 8-speed automatic brings the speed

Ram has answered the call: their new ZF-built 8-speed transmission shifts with speed and grace. It even intelligently starts in second gear when unloaded for lighter driving. In our week behind the wheel, the 0–60 time improved from 8.0 to 6.9 seconds—big strides for a heavy-duty truck. We also averaged between 14 and 20 MPG on Georgia’s highways and backroads.

Still the ride to beat in ¾-ton comfort

Ram’s legendary coil-spring rear suspension shines yet again, delivering a smooth, controlled ride. Potholes and washboard roads didn’t shake us. Inside, the Laramie cabin offers an advanced driver display, a sharp infotainment screen, leather-trimmed comfort, and advanced safety features—making even daily drives a pleasure.

Final Word

These upgrades reaffirm why we stand by Ram. The refined Cummins diesel, new transmission, refreshed styling, and upgraded tech combine for one compelling package. The 2025 Ram 2500 is more than capable—it’s class-leading in every sense.

And that’s not just our opinion—it’s what our customers tell us time and time again. From contractors who count on their Ram every day to families who tow fifth-wheels on weekends, owners love the confidence, power, and comfort these trucks provide. Whether you’re tackling jobsite duties or hauling for fun, the Ram HD brings a unique peace of mind—and a lot of pride in ownership. Few trucks balance rugged durability with refined luxury this well.

It’s not just a workhorse; it’s a lifestyle upgrade. Once you’ve experienced the capability and comfort of a Ram HD, it’s hard to settle for anything less. That’s why so many of our customers keep coming back—because Ram keeps delivering.

Swing by Landmark and get behind the wheel of this impressive new heavy-duty Ram. Feel the difference yourself.
