New 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Feature All-new Interior and Premium, Body-color, Removable Hard Top

August 19, 2010 , Auburn Hills, Mich.

Chrysler Group LLC released images today of the new 2011 Jeep® Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited.

Jeep continues to refine the successful Wrangler formula by combining its legendary, benchmark capability with an all-new interior that delivers rich styling with significantly upgraded touch surfaces, occupant comfort and versatility, and a premium appearance courtesy of an all-new body-color hard top for the popular Sahara model.

“The iconic Jeep Wrangler keeps getting better,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “While retaining unmatched, legendary capability, the 2011 Jeep Wrangler boasts an all-new interior that delivers a host of comfort, convenience and versatility features. In addition, Sahara models now feature a stunning, all-new body-color hard top, for customers looking for a Jeep Wrangler with a more premium appearance.”

New 2011 Jeep Wrangler interior highlights include a redesigned instrument panel and new storage areas with improved ergonomics and upgraded materials. A new lockable console and upgraded door armrest areas boast comfortable touch points, while a redesigned center stack is easier to reach and operate. Heated, power mirrors are now available, and drivers and passengers will enjoy enhanced visibility courtesy of larger rear windows.

All-new steering-wheel controls allow the driver to operate the radio, cruise control, hands-free phone and other vehicle functions while keeping hands on the wheel. A new USB device interface connects to storage devices (thumb drives and most MP3 players) for use with the vehicle’s Media Center, which now includes streaming Bluetooth audio. Twelve-volt accessory outlets have been added and a new 110-volt outlet is available to provide power similar to AC outlets in the home.

In line with traditional Jeep design, hex-head bolts are utilized throughout the interior, and are used to mount a “Jeep, Since 1941″ inlay onto the new passenger grab handle.

Jeep engineers increased acoustical treatment in the 2011 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, resulting in significantly reduced interior noise.

To provide a more premium appearance, the 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Sahara models boast an all-new, premium, body-color hard top.

Several new Jeep Wrangler colors are available for 2011, including Detonator Yellow, Deep Cherry Red, Sahara Tan, Cosmos Blue and Bright White.

Production of the new 2011 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited began earlier this week at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Toledo, Ohio.

Spy shots-2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

Monday, August 16th, 2010

A couple months after the release of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a great response from our customers on the new design, we are thrilled to see Grand Cherokee and SRT8 back in the same sentence. Chrysler has been hard at work on a the high-powered SRT version of the new SUV. In the past, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 has always been a guilty pleasure of ours, if only for the rocket-like 6.1-liter Hemi V8 underhood.

Good news then that Chrysler is prepping an all new 6.4-liter Hemi for use in its SRT products, and we’re anxious to see how this new engine works in the Grand Cherokee application, which seems likely to hit as a 2012 model.

Early reports suggest that the engine could produce around 450 horsepower, but spy photographers are saying that we could see over 500 raging stallions coming out of this new monster mill. This means the new Grand Cherokee SRT8 could rip off 0-60 times in under five seconds!

Sneak Peak at the 2012 Dodge Durango

Sneak Peak of the 2012 Durango
Ah, the magic of the interwebs. Chrysler has yet to officially reveal the 2012 Dodge Durango (which could yet be birthed under the name Magnum), but we’ve come across this rather nonchalant camera phone photo taken by one of the Twitterati.
Judging from the Durango/Magnum spy shots that have come through our hands, the exterior design hasn’t changed much during the SUV-turned-crossover’s development. If we’re honest, the design is a little milquetoast, but we’d rather Chrysler be executing simple designs rather than unsightly messes. Expect the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 to be under the hood when the SUV hits the road in early 2011.

Spy Shots: 2011 Dodge Charger

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Aggressive, Chiseled, Powerful, and Sexy!

The 2011 Dodge Charger has a more aggresive front end with chiseled lines that flow from the front fascia to the new hood. The powerplant is planned have an optional boost in power with a 6.4L HEMI SRT8 motor that gets better gas mileage than the 6.1 ltr and also about 25-35 more horspower(450-460hp). This is just a spy of the exterior but Ralph Gilles, Dodge brand chief, has said that the new interior will be “class-leading” with styling that matches the dramatic new exterior, we can’t wait!

More speculative power options……

  • 3.0 liter Phoenix V6 (possibly for export)
  • 3.0 liter Mercedes turbodiesel V6 — same as current version
  • 3.6 liter Phoenix V6 — around 290 hp
  • 5.7 liter Hemi MDS/VCT — around 360 hp (the engine itself is capable of at least 380 hp)
  • 6.4 liter Hemi (SRT) — we’d guess around 440-460 hp, with better gas mileage than the 6.1

Auto-mechanic(1)When To Replace Your Oxygen Sensor:

If not taken care of in proper time, your oxygen sensor can cause other problems like premature failure of your catalytic converter, increasing the total you will spend with the next repair. With the prices of gas high as they are, keeping your oxygen sensor up to date, or replacing it when it’s time, will save you hundreds of dollars each year just in fuel costs.

The typical time to replace an oxygen sensor for vehicles made from the late mid 1970s to about 1990 is about every 30,000 to 45,000 miles. For the newer makes and models, get your oxygen sensor checked about every 80,000 to 100,000 miles. If your check engine light comes on, have your mechanic check the oxygen sensors when you take your car in.

1966 Dodge Charger Project

Last Summer (2009), the North Georgia MOPAR Club was asked to lend a helping hand to one of our Atlanta Area Soldiers. This Army Soldier toured Afghanistan and was most recently stationed in Korea. He has a wife and two kids waiting for him to come home, and soon there will also be a restored ’66 Dodge Charger!

Before he was deployed to fight for America’s freedom, he and his Dad began to restore a ’66 Charger. Needless to say, he hasn’t made much progress over the years, due to the present conditions in Afghanistan. His Dad decided to take the Charger to a local body shop, Midway Collision, and get it cleaned up to protect the body work from rusting. Boy did that change everything!

Midway Collision reached out to the North Georgia Mopar Club for some help. Since then, Club Members, Non-Members, local businesses and even national businesses from all over the United States have donated labor, parts and money to practically restore the entire vehicle. Despite the tremendous amount of support, there is still many pieces left in the puzzle. While assembling the car, the major parts haven’t been a problem but the smaller parts needed for the restoration have been scarce. We’ve been searching the web, junkyards, swap meets and asking our friends to help us dig up the necessary parts to make this a complete project. We’d like to share our progress photos with you so far, and we’d also like to ask for your help with our 1966 Dodge Charger puzzle.

For more Information about how you can donate time, parts or money contact Joe Suchy at 770-964-4441 or email him at dinahandjoe@peoplepc.com
